Dashboard - Rating (Premium)

The Cuescore Rating system is an ELO based rating system, calculating the rating from the match result.

Managing ratings

For Premium setups that have the rating activated, everything can be managed from the dashboard. That includes setting up ratings for different branches and/or disciplines.

The ratings section will list ratings you have and allow you to create new ones.

You can click the name of the rating or create a new rating, which brings you to the edit page as shown below. The edit page has two tabs: Settings and Tournaments.

Settings tab

Settings has just a handful of options:

Name - Enter the name of the rating (short and precise)

Start Rating - 1150 is a good starting point for American pool and will correspond with other users.

Hide players..... - Typical setting is 20, as you want the player to get some time to reach his/her level. The players rating is hidden until this number is reached.

Branch - Select the branch for the rating. Any branch on Cuescore can have a rating.

Start rating calculation - A button to activate the calculation if you have done any changes. Othervise it will re-calculate every Monday.

Application for rating inclusion - You can allow Connected Pro accounts to apply for their tournaments (weekly etc.) to be part of the rating. The tournaments will show up here as Pending and you can allow or deny them to be part of the rating calculation. To allow tournaments you would typically set some rules for the organizer, to make sure its up to standard.

Tournaments tab

The tournaments tab lists all tournaments that are part of the ranking and allows you to add or remove.
If a tournament is meant to be part of a rating, it can be set directly in the [tournament settings] to make life a bit easier.

In the rating calculation, only finished matches are included. So any Forfeit (FF) or Disqualify (DIS) is excluded from the calculation.

Handicapped tournaments are also excluded, as it doesn't make any sense to use matches where a player has an advantage to calculate the strength of the player in the form of a rating.

Rating and Robustness

When your organization has set up a rating, it will calculate it for all players participating in the tournaments added to it. For every match played, the rating number and the robustness of the rating changes. This is information is shown on the public Premium page and on the players' profile. The rating number is the players strength, the higher the number, the stronger the player is.

The robustness changes over time and tells you something about how correct the rating number is. The robustness increases over time and we consider it well-established when the player reaches 100 matches. At that point the player rating will be quite stable.
