Following the feedback of the new scoreboards, we learned that some organizations use the handicap system in specific ways that we didn't support with the new scoreboard.
To activate handicaps for your tournament or league, you activate the setting under your tournament settings page and select a handicap list (note that you should do this before you open for entry, to make sure players are added to the list when signing up). Depending on how the handicaps have been defined in the Handicap lists, the system will take these values and link them into the tournament or league.
After the draw has been made, all information regarding the handicap is loaded from this list and can be seen next to the participant. The same now happens when you start one of these matches and it is loaded on the scoreboard:
As you can see, the value from the handicap list for player A has automatically been loaded (positive and negative nalues are accepted) and showing on the startscreen for the next match. This will allow all the organizers to access and manage handicap scores outside of the scoreboard itself. Of course, there also organizations that use a different tiersystem for handicaps, that uses text or big values (like the Fargo rating of a player). In this case the value wil be shown in the handicap field of the player, as seen below:
A placeholder is entered into the handicap field, showing the handicap designated to the player in the handicap list of the organization. Based on the placeholder, you can set the correct handicap (frames/points), according to system being used. A value has to be filled in before the match can be started.
Say that you have a HCP system that has the value 534 for Player A. You (or the player) will have to "translate" what that means in Frames/Points for the discipline and enter that value as start score. Do the same for Player B and then start the match. These values will now be prefilled as score.
To minimize possible mistakes, there is a check that the Start score < race to length and that the start score is within +/-100.
