Handicap feature in CueScore PRO

Handicap administration is probably the feature that has been requested the most during the last year, and now it has finally been added to the supported features list. In CueScore PRO, you can create as many handicap lists as you want, and make use of them in your tournaments.

A lot of tournaments make use of player handicaps to even out the playing field and make it possible for anyone to win an event, regardless of their skill level. There are different handicap systems in use around the world, and we've taken that into consideration in this first version of the feature. If you use handicap in your tournaments, please try it and let us know how it works out.

Getting started

If you already have access to a CueScore PRO account, go to the menu option "Handicaps" and create a new handicap list from there. Once you've created the list, you can add players to it and set their handicap. Actually, you do not have to add players to the list itself, as players are added to it automatically when entering your tournament. You will have to set their actual handicap though, so it is advisable to add all your regular players straight away.

To make use of a handicap list in a tournament, first create your tournament. From the "Handicap" section of the tournament edit page you turn on using handicaps, and you will get a selection box from which you can select the handicap list you just created (note: this is a PRO feature, so you won't find it in the free version).

Editing handicaps

You can edit handicap levels in two places. Using the handicap list you just created will alter the current handicap level of any player, and is considered the "maintenance" area. Whenever you need to update the current handicap level of a player you should do that from there.

The second place to edit a handicap is through the playing schedule of a tournament. In the schedule, next to the player name in every match you will find a three dotted menu item, which will bring up a small menu. In that list you will find "Edit handicap" and by clicking that you can edit that players handicap directly. Changing the handicap from here will also update the handicap list (the current handicap level), unless you check "Update only this match".

We really value your feedback and we want to know how we best can continue to develop this feature, so please let us know your experience on this.
