ELK Summer Singles 2022

ELK Promotions are proud to announce a return to operation with "147 Snooker Club" 2022 Blackball Singles League Competition.

The ELK 147 Warrington Blackball singles league is now open and taking registrations from current WIPL and Cheshire County players only. The competition entry fee is £20 for Open entrants and £10 for ladies and under 18s.

This year the Group stage format remains Multiple groups of 9 or 10 players. Finals Day will again see a GOLD Event for the Group stage top performers, with accompanying Silver, Bronze and Copper events for varying levels of achievement in the league. All entrants will have something to play for on finals day.

The entire competition will be run under a handicap system with Professional Pool standard players having a -2 handicap, County A standard players having a handicap of -1. Ladies and youths will have a +1 handicap. These handicaps are cumulative with a pro playing a lady resulting in the pro having a -2 handicap and the lady having a single frame start. Additional frames should be added to fixtures where a player is playing with a minus handicap. As an example of a -2 handicap match a minimum of 11 frames MUST be played and a maximum of 13 frames. Essentially any minus handicap match must be played to a plus 11 frame result. Minus handicaps will be offset against each other, for example two Pro players meeting will both play off scratch, and a Pro Player meeting a County A player having the Pro off -1 and the County A player off scratch.

All matches will be a best of 11 format and ALL 11 frames should be played.

At least four Electronic Tablets will be available as digital score boards as well and providing live score and result updates.

Welcome Packs with a full set of rules will be provided before the competition starts.

Competition Dates are as follows:
Entry Deadline & Comp Draw: Sunday 12th June
Welcome Packs: Sunday 18th of June
Competition Start: Saturday the 18th of June
Initial Group Stage to be complete by: Saturday 17th September 2022
Finals Day : Saturday October 15th

The Prize fund is estimated to be around £1,750 based on 50 open entrants.

The number of group stage groups will be based on the number of entrants. After completion of the group stage players will be sorted into one of four groups based on their performance. Each of the four following groups will have their own knockout event down to a winner with trophies and pay-outs in all four groups.

GOLD EVENT (1st and 2nd place group stage performers)
SILVER EVENT (3rd and 4th place group stage performers)
BRONZE EVENT (5th, 6th and 7th place group stage performers)
COPPER EVENT (8th, 9th and 10th place group stage performers)

The event is likely to run for 6 months with a planned start date in April and a finals day on Saturday September the 24th. To ensure the event runs smoothly, a no tolerance approach will be adopted for those players not playing their scheduled games in a timely manner. This will be clearly stated in the Welcome Pack rules prior to starting the event. There will be an ELK committee fixture bouncer who will constantly monitor this and take steps where necessary.

Entry will only be confirmed on receipt of a players entry fee and entry will not be allowed if the registration fee is not paid by the deadline. There have been numerous headaches in getting the registration fee in the past when allowing payment after the entry deadline of Thursday the 31st of March, this will not be allowed this year so be warned. If you haven't paid by the entry deadline date, you will not be included in the competition.
