Oct 3, 2019 Keith Walkerdine

Information for the new season starting 15th October

With the new 9 ball season starting Tuesday 15th October here is some information regarding League Information, League Cup and Mick Walkerdine Cup, Playoffs, Promotions and Relegations.

General League Information

This season the league is reverting back to three divisions with 11 in each. So some players will have been moved into each division.

Remember fixtures on the website are just a guideline and subject to change, so unless you hear directly from Keith always assume you have a game. Some weeks this may be two games but you will be informed beforehand if this were to be the case.

Once you and your opponent have both arrived then you will entered in to the queue of games for the evening.

If you cannot make it on any week then please inform me by 5.30pm. If you are running late then please tell by 6pm also if you can.

If you fail to show up without informing me or inform me too late then your game may be forfeited. Racks will be awarded to your opponent should the game be postponed. If repeated no show’s without warning then you may be removed from of the league and league fees owed.

These are at the organiser’s discretion only.

Games are due to start at 7pm but we may start earlier if players are already arrived but this may not be the case every week.

As with previous seasons the shot clock may still be used if games to start to exceed the timing guideline by too much.

Division Format Details

Usual 9 ball rules apply. 9 Ball on the spot (rack high). No 3 point rule. Alternate break.

Division 1 will be a race to 8 (maximum of 14 racks) 3pts for a win and 1pt for a draw.

Division 2 will be a race to 7 (maximum of 12 racks) 3pts for a win and 1pt for a draw.

Play-off, Promotion & Relegation details

In each in division the player that finishes top will be straight in to the play-off final. Players 2 to 5 in the final table of the divisions with nine or more players will play each other in the playoff quarter final with 2nd v 5th & 3rd v 4th and then the winners will play in the semi-final and both these games will played on the same night.

The winner of the semi-final will then move on to the final to play the player who finished 1st in the division the week after and the winner of this will be crowned division champion.

The play-off quarter and semi-finals are due to be played on Tuesday 17th March and the Finals to be played on the 24th March. The dates could be subject to change but you will be informed well in advance but please keep these dates free as they may not be able to be moved.

Players that finish top in division 2, 3 and 4 will automatically be promoted. The next promotion place goes to the player that gets to the play-off final.

In the event of any other promotions it will be based on final league position up to the final playoff position.

The players that finish in the bottom three places in each division will be relegated if we continue with three divisions of 11 (minimum 2 players to be relegated). Some players may not be relegated if numbers for the following season change drastically.

If we revert back to four divisions the following season, then the following will happen. In division one the bottom three will be relegated. In division two it will be the bottom four to be relegated. In division three it will be the bottom four or five to be relegated.

Prize Money Information

The prize money is paid out at the end of the season. This is paid out via the places you finish in the table at end of season and the end of season playoff system.

Please note prize money will only be paid out if you have paid for all your games in full and completed a full season. There may be exceptions to this at organiser’s discretion.

Amount of prize money will be dependent on entry fees and game fees paid in to each division.

The race for the groups will be to 5 and winner breaks.
