Details for the new season, including playoffs, relegation, playoff info. Also on the league cup switching to 10 ball.
With the new summer 9 ball season starting Tuesday 10th May here is some information regarding League Information, League Cup, Mick Walkerdine Cup, Playoffs, Promotions and Relegations.
General League Information
Remember fixtures on the website are just a guideline and subject to change, so unless you hear directly from Keith always assume you have a game. Some weeks you may have two games but you will be informed beforehand if this were to be the case.
Once you and your opponent have both arrived then you will entered in to the queue of games for the evening.
The rest of your entry fee for those partially paid will be due by the half way point but you can pay it sooner if you wish. A reminder it is £3 per game payable each game played.
If you cannot make it on any week then please inform me by 5.30pm. If you are running late then please tell by 6pm also if you can.
If you fail to show up without informing me your game may be forfeited.
If you inform me too late that you are running late. Then racks could be awarded to your opponent should the game be postponed for a later date and I can’t find them another game on the night.
If repeated no show without warning then you may be removed from the league and any entry fee or game fees owed will be due ASAP.
Due to some games last season not being finished on the night or asked to be paused/carried on the following week. These games/remaining racks will now either be awarded to your opponent should a request to pause the game to the following week if you opponent does not agree or the organiser does not agree. If your opponent and organiser do agree to it, then one rack will be awarded to them and you will pay their £3 game fee for the inconvenience. This is at the organiser’s discretion only and you may be told to finish the game or forfeit the remaining racks.
Games are due to start at 6.45pm onwards but we may start earlier in some cases. Please be in 8pm at the latest unless otherwise agreed if you cannot be in for 6.45/7.00pm start time.
Division Format Details
Usual 9 ball rules apply. 9 Ball on the spot (rack high). No 3 point rule. Alternate break.
Division 1 will be a race to 8 (maximum of 14 racks) 3pts for a win and 1pt for a draw.
Division 2 will be a race to 7 (maximum of 12 racks) 3pts for a win and 1pt for a draw.
Division 3 will be a race to 6 (maximum of 10 racks) 3pts for a win and 1pt for a draw.
Play-off, Promotion & Relegation details
In each in division the player that finishes top of table will be straight in to the play-off final.
In each division it is the top 5 for the play-offs. The players in positions 2 to 5 in the final table will play each other in the playoff quarter final with 2nd v 5th & 3rd v 4th. Then the winners will play in the semi-final and both these games will played on the same night.
The winner of the semi-final will then move on to the final to play the player who finished 1st in the division the week after and the winner of this will be crowned division champion.
The play-off quarter, semi-finals are to be played either Tuesday 20th or 27th September and the Finals to be played on either Tuesday 27th September or Tuesday 4th October. I will confirm these dates as the season goes.
Players that finish top in division 2 and 3 will automatically be promoted. The next promotion place goes to the player that gets to the play-off final.
In the event of any other promotions it will be based on final league position up to the final playoff positions in the league table.
The players that finish in the bottom four places in division 1 will be relegated, bottom five in divisions 2 and the bottom six in division 3. This is based on going back to four divisions for the winter 2022/23 season.
Some players may not be relegated if numbers for the following season stay the same and we continue with three divisions. So the numbers relegated may be reduced depending on the number of entries the following season.
So for now to guarantee your place in division 1 you will need to finish 7th or above. In division 2 you will need to finish 6th or above. In division 3 you will need to finish 5th and above.
As stated above the relegation numbers may be reduced if we do not go back to four divisions for the winter 2022/23 season.
Prize Money Information
Amount of prize money will be dependent on the amount of entry fees paid in to each division. Prize fund for a division of 11 will be £550.
The prize money is paid out in each division from all the prize money paid in to each division at the end of the season. This is paid out via the places you finish in the table at end of season and via the end of season playoffs as well.
Please note prize money will only be paid out if you have paid in full (entry fee & table/light fees) and completed a full season. There may be exceptions to this at organiser’s discretion.
League Cup Details
The league cup this season will change to 10 ball. This is a call shot game (ball and pocket called) and the 10 ball being the last ball potted to win the rack. It can be potted as combo but does not win you the rack and gets re-spotted but you carry on you visit as it counts as legally potted ball if called. Any questions then feel free to ask me.
The League Cup is straight knockout cup. This will be a race to 5 up to the semi-finals. The semi-final will be a race to 7 and final a race to 9. All rounds will be winner breaks. The first round will be played by doubling up over the first 4 weeks. The second round will be played by doubling over the weeks after. The quarters, semi-final and final to be played a date TBC.
Mick Walkerdine Cup Details
The Mick Walkerdine Cup will continue as 9 ball and consist of the players in divisions three and those who were promoted from three last season and those in division 2 last season who didn’t make the play-offs. This will be a race to 5 up to the semi-final where it will be a race to 7. The final will be a race to 9. This will be winner breaks format.
There will be a cup to the winner of each.
If you have any questions then please message me directly.
I would like to wish all the players the best of luck for the Summer Season 2022 and remember to enjoy yourselves and respect your fellow players.
